We are an independent comparison service that helps travellers find honest car rental deals across four Caribbean islands - without ever renting out a car ourselves.
CarRental Caribbean is a comparison hub, not a car rental company. We do not own a fleet, we do not staff a rental counter, and we do not sign the rental agreement with you. What we do is pull together live offers from trusted local and international suppliers operating on the ground in Jamaica, Curacao, Barbados and Punta Cana, and display them side by side in one simple search so you can see real USD prices, vehicle categories, mileage terms and cancellation policies before you ever hand over a card number.
Every offer you see on our comparison engine belongs to the supplier that will meet you at the airport, resort gate or cruise pier. The rental contract, the deposit, the insurance excess and the fuel policy are all set by that supplier and shown per offer, because terms genuinely differ from one company to another and from one island to another. Our job is to make those differences easy to compare so you are not guessing at pickup.
Renting a car in the Caribbean is not one experience - it is four very different experiences. Jamaica and Barbados keep the left-side driving inherited from their British history, while Curacao and Punta Cana drive on the right. Curacao sits outside the hurricane belt and runs a steady season all year, while Jamaica, Barbados and Punta Cana see their best weather and highest demand from December through April. A compact car that is perfectly fine for Bridgetown's roundabouts might struggle on an unpaved beach track outside Willemstad. No single rental company can specialize in all of that. A comparison model lets us stay neutral, show you multiple suppliers per route, and be upfront when one island is simply cheaper than another (Punta Cana usually is).
Prices are pulled from supplier inventory in real time, so what you see reflects actual current availability, not a stale rate card.
We list established island operators alongside international brands, each with its own rating history and terms.
Deposit rules, insurance excess and young-driver fees are shown against the specific offer, not buried in one generic policy page.
Most listed offers allow free cancellation up to pickup; we mark which ones do so you can book ahead with confidence during peak season.
Each island page covers driving side, road conditions and typical pickup points, because Jamaica's country roads are not Curacao's roundabouts.
We never guarantee a fixed price for future dates or push you toward one supplier - you choose the offer that fits your trip.
Our coverage runs from the two main Jamaican gateways, Montego Bay Airport and Kingston Airport, through the resort strip in Punta Cana, the compact roundabout network around Barbados' Grantley Adams Airport, and the year-round season on Curacao. If you are unsure which side of the road you will be driving on, our island-by-island driving guide lays out the left-versus-right split and the local habits worth knowing before you pick up the keys.
| What we compare | What we never do |
|---|---|
| Live prices in USD from multiple suppliers | Own or operate a rental fleet |
| Vehicle category, mileage terms, insurance excess | Set or guarantee a fixed future price |
| Supplier ratings from past renters | Charge a hidden booking fee on top of the supplier's rate |
| Cancellation policy per offer | Handle the rental contract or the vehicle handover |
If you want to see how travellers rate the experience of comparing and booking through us, read our reviews page. If you have a question that is not covered here, our FAQ walks through deposits, young-driver fees, hurricane-season pricing and cruise-day rentals in detail, or you can reach us directly through the contact page.
No. We are a comparison service. We show live offers from local and international suppliers across Jamaica, Curacao, Barbados and Punta Cana, and you complete the booking with the supplier directly.
Always the supplier operating the vehicle you choose, not CarRental Caribbean. Deposit, insurance excess and fuel policy are set by that supplier and shown against the offer.
Local demand, season and supplier competition all play a role. Punta Cana is typically the cheapest of the four, while island size and peak-season demand push Jamaica, Barbados and Curacao rates higher between December and April.
The price shown for each offer reflects the supplier's own rate. Any additional charges, such as a young-driver fee or an optional insurance upgrade, are disclosed by the supplier before you confirm.
Ratings reflect past renter feedback tied to each supplier's offers, which is why we display them per listing rather than as one blended score for the whole island.
